I loved your ideas. Thanks. On my 1st day, I like to play Verdad o Mentira. I write 10 facts about myself in Spanish and through gesture and visual aids they can understand my statements. They have to vote (using Ipads or mini white boards) if I'm telling the truth or if it's a lie. For my 1st year Spanish, I let them write in English five sentences about themselves, some being true and some being a lie. The we all guess. For second year students, they write their sentences in Spanish. I also put some silly Spanish songs for them to dance on our second day and we learn some songs we sing every day. I chane the songs every month

I use my own version of something like Scott Benedict's Powerful PQA (www.teachforjune.com) or Ben Slavik's "Circling with Balls" (www.benslavik.com). I get to learn about my students, they get lots of great comprehensible input. Win-win! Plus I don't bore them by spending the day going over rules like every other teacher in the school.

    Thanks for exploring CWL!

I have experience being a District Supervisor, teaching all levels of Spanish from I-VAP, serving as a Master Teacher, being a teacher trainer for Startalk and am a co author for the Entre Culturas Spanish III series by Wayside Publishing.

In order to achieve student success, I believe in providing teachers with hands on resources that will impact their teaching immediately.  This is my passion and I hope you enjoy the site!
